Story Sack

Put together a story bag or box with items from a favourite story for your child to explore and talk about as you share a book. 
 
You will need  • A favourite book • A bag, box or basket • Objects from the story 
 
1. Choose a book and add objects/toys that link to the story to a bag, box or basket. 
 
2. Pick out objects one by one to explore and talk about.  What is it? What does it feel like? What do we do with it?  
 
3. Match the objects to the story as they appear on each page. 
 
4. Use the objects to retell the story together and develop into using as props for play. 
 
5. Play Kim’s Game Lay out the objects, naming each, then cover with a cloth. Take one item away then reveal what is left behind, ask what’s missing? Take turns, start simple with three objects then increase challenge by adding more.
